Festival of New Circus, Theater, Music and Visual Arts Summer Letná was first held in 2004. During the 13 years, it became an integral part of both the Czech and European cultural maps - it became an event that is unparalleled in our country. Festival performances since 2004 have been seen
via 280 000 visitors.
Festival visitors are regularly witnesses of both Czech and world premieres. Dramaturgy is always presenting current productions, which are presented premieres in the Czech Republic and often also in Central Europe. They bring together ensembles of outstanding reputation, one of the top and award winning
international prizes.
Letní Letná brings to Prague the best ensembles from all over the world. During the twelve years she has introduced not only prestigious ensembles from all over Europe but also artists from Australia, Canada, Mexico and Uruguay. He has brought such top-of-the-world to the Czech Republic
circus such as Cirque Ici, Cirque Trottola, Les Colporteurs, 7 Fingers, Circus Cirkör, Compagnie XY, Cirque Baroque, Cahin Caha, Malabar, Atelier Lefevre & André, Cie Galapiat, Le Boustrophedon Cirque Trottola & Petit Th été Baraque, Cirque Inextremiste , La Compagnie du Poivre Rose, NoFit State Circus, Compagnie Rasposo and others. Summer Letna has won EFFE - Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe, initiated by the European Festivals Association for the years 2015-2016. In total, festivals from 31 countries were selected in Europe based on expert judgment and international jury.
Summer intensively strives for the development and promotion of the New Circus scene, and therefore regularly supports and organizes meetings of professionals and meetings of artists with the public. In cooperation with the center of the new Cirqueon Circus, this year again CIRCFÓRUM - a unique meeting of professionals, promoters, tour managers, directors of theaters and festivals wishing to cooperate in the area of ​​the new circus and help develop the genre in our Euroregion. The aim of this meeting is networking and the effort to find practical possibilities of cooperation in the Central European region and at the same time to present the Czech professional scene.
